![]() I think his experience in early access impacted this. I agree with many of his critiques, and it's well argued, but I do disagree with his contention that the Neptune rocket is poorly implemented. If you hatch aggressive creatures in your containment, are they aggressive towards you? And I need to go back to that Degassi base again, because apparently I forgot to scan the alien containment while I was there, and I'm ready to make a giant vertical aquarium. I'm still missing a couple upgrades for the Cyclops, so time to go on a reconnoiter and look for more wrecks in the scary areas I've been avoiding. It's a game-changer for sure kinda wish I had it in the Lava Zone now. I had it for ages, but I decided I would play the Lava Zones on a single trip rather than make trips back and forth, so I never had the materials for it. I also finally made the jump jet upgrade for the Prawn. Now my Cyclops and Prawn Suit are fully powered by Ion Power Cells, which I'm pretty sure means I will never see my power get as low as even 50%. I ended up just setting my scanner room to look for sandstone and went around farming gold and silver so that I could make a whole bunch of Ion Power Cells (I already had scads of ion cubes saved up from earlier). As much as the game can stress me out, it's also sublimely relaxing in the shallower areas. I hadn't touched the game in over a week since I beat it, so last night I decided to dive back in (pun most assuredly intended). ![]() Thank god, I would have died a little if I had to restart. Fortunately, there's a solution that worked for me because I'm not the only one to have come across this game breaking issue. "Wait.", it suddenly struck me, "how's everyone's island looking nothing like my pile of puke? Are we even talking about the same island?" So I was at a loss and didn't know how to continue the Degasi storyline until, after lots of hesitation, I caved in and finally did some Google-Fu. There just has to!" But nooooooo, only ugly emptiness. " Surely there has to be something on or around it I've missed. So I kept playing for ~20 more hours until I remembered I could pay that place a visit again. "Oh well, maybe that's just how it's supposed to be", I mumbled to myself, still wondering how something that ugly could have made it into the game at all. I wandered around for about an hour thinking there must be something I was missing. No PDAs, no base, no fauna/flora, nothing at all. A barren, butt-ugly looking island without anything on it except for grass. Problem was, this is how the island looked for me: I tried doing the Degasi stuff and went towards the meeting point on the Floating Island. Update 84 reverts to the old school: A Subnautica Update with no name. Under the hood the named updates continued to have numbers. We eventually switched to names, like Seamoth Update, because they were punchier. In the early days of Subnautica development, updates did not have names.
